Protest in New York to ban LTTE
[14 Feb 2001]

More than a hundred Sri Lankans took part in a demonstration in New York on Friday outside the British Embassy and staged a four-hour protest campaign, calling on the British government to ban the LTTE.

Demonstrators stood outside the embassy holding placards and banners urging the banning of the LTTE.

At the end of the protest, the demonstrators handed over a petition calling for the ban to the embassy officials.

The demonstrators stated that a British ban on the terrorist organization would be a ruthless blow to the LTTE and would be a victory for the global war against the scourge of terrorism.
