Vijaya’s 13^th death anniversary

The 13^th death anniversary of popular film actor turned politician Vijaya Kumaratunga falls today. 

He was the founder leader of the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party and continued a valiant struggle to restore peace in the country. He led peace missions to the North on a number of occasions.

He made his entrée to silver screen playing the lead role in the film “Hanthane Kathawa”.

He was the husband of President Chandrika Kumaratunga.

Vijaya was brutally assasinate outside his residence at Polhengoda on February 16, 1988. 

Several ceremonies will be held island wide to commemorate him.
