Mahanaykes sign petition requesting UK to ban LTTE

The most Ven. Mahanayake Theros of Malwatte and Asgiriya Mahavihara Chapters of Siyam Maha Nikaya, signed a one million-signature petition prepared by the party Sihala Urumaya.

The petition, which was signed on last Thursday, will be present to the British government, requesting to proscribe LTTE in Britain.  The Member of the Parliament and the Leader of the party Sihala Urumaya, Thilak Karunaratne, met the most Ven. Mahanayakes at the official Aramayas at Kandy, and explained their objective of preparing the petition.  Later the Mahanaykes appreciated the action taken by the Sihala Urumaya party and signed the petition  with the blessings of Maha Sangha.
