Two suspects arrested, Police Official remanded in connection with Vijaya Kumaratunga assassination

Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge, Priyantha Fernando remanded Assistant Superintendent of Police, C N Wakista allegedly in connection with the assassination of popular actor and politician, Vijaya Kumaratunga yesterday. He is believed to have had connections with Tarzan Weerasinghe alias Herath one of the main suspects involved in the assassination of Kumaratunga in 1988.

The CID had earlier arrested Tarzan Weerasinghe and Lionel alias Gamini in connection with the assassination. 

The CID took another two suspects as well into custody yesterday in connection with the same case. They will be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate after the CID records their statements.
