The LTTE was caught in its ploy of re-arming and re-grouping for future attacks behind its 'unilateral ceasefire', when two LTTE craft carrying explosives were destroyed by the Sri Lanka Navy last week. Four LTTE leaders deployed to transfer the cargo safely to the Mullaitivu shores were also killed in the attack. A popular weekend Newspaper in Colombo reported that the LTTE was making fresh procurements from a leading manufacturer of military hardware and they are now unable to counter the heavy military assaults in the north and east. The naval attack adds credence to this report. The LTTE has continued to violate its self-proclaimed truce from the day it was first announced, but were careful not to draw much attention. Their attacks were mainly mortar and shellfire, directed at military front lines. Civilian casualties in the cross fire proved such violations. There have been 101 such incidents reported so far. Military sources have warned that the LTTE would soon resume its atrocities and blame it on the Government for not accepting its pseudo ceasefire.
