President Kumaratunga, the first donor for Sri Lankan women’s eye donation campaign

The Women’s Organisation of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has organised an eye donation campaign titled “Weera Matha Nethra Pooja” targeting 100,000 women to commemorate both the War Hero’s month ending on February 28 and Women’s Day to be held on March 8.

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga initiated the campaign by being the first donor to sign the agreement donating her eyes at a ceremony at the President’s House in Fort, this afternoon.

“Through this eye donation campaign of 100,000 women, I wish that we would see an end to the war in our country, with the dawn of peace,” the President said.
