Four Sri Lankan players were fined 25% of their match fee for incessant appealing. Match referee Hanumant Singh also dealt out a one match suspension to Graham Hick for showing dissension when given out.

England skipper Nasser Hussain praised the Sri Lanka cricket team saying, "They are a very good side and I'm not taking anything away from their victory. They played really good cricket." He did not comment on the umpiring.

The second test begins on March 07th at the picturesque Asgiriya International Cricket Stadium. Reports from the hill capital Kandy say all hotels in around are over booked. Around eight thousand English cricket fans are following their team around the country.
