Indian High Commissioner, Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi visited Jaffna on Saturday, March 03. Shri Gandhi visited the offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Jaffna and was briefed by senior officials on its humanitarian activities. The High Commissioner apprised Government officials in Jaffna of the visit of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to New Delhi recently, when the Government of India reiterated its belief that for the solution of the ethnic conflict, the political process is irreplaceable and that the Government of India supports the Norwegian facilitation for talks within a unitary framework. The High Commissioner also attended a religious ceremony at the historic temple of Lord Muruga at Nallur.
