Pro-LTTE gangs in UK attack Sri Lankans
[05 Mar 2001]

Pro-LTTE gangs in the UK attacked a group of Sri Lankan fans outside Acton Hall in London yesterday. The victims had been at a concert where a Sri Lankan band performed. The attack with swords and baseball bats came three days after Britain listed the LTTE as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO)

Between five and six persons were injured, Acton Police said one was in a very serious condition.

Earlier in Bounds Green North London, a group of Sri Lankans had been ordered out of a restaurant by LTTE activists who were already there.

The LTTE withdrew all its propaganda material such as videos, calendars, magazines, newspapers etc., from Tamil owned shops in London soon after the British Terrorism Act 2000 came into force on February 19.
