Over 1,000 Army deserters, report back

1,012 army deserters had reported back for duty upto March 10. This followed the general amnesty granted for army deserters, to return to their units without being penalised.

The amnesty period, which began on March 6 ends today (March 14), the Operational Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence said in a news release today.

All deserters reporting back for duty within the amnesty period will be assigned for duty after the required training without any penalty, the Defence Ministry added.
