President Chandrika Kumaratunga continued onto Munich from Berlin on her four-day official visit to Germany. She was warmly welcomed on arrival by the Minister of Justice of the Free State of Baveria, Dr. Manfred Weiss March 14. Earlier, she concluded bilateral talks with her German counterpart and other leaders in Berlin. The talks were described as fruitful. Technical Education in Sri Lanka came into focus in her discussions with the German Minister of Economic Co-operation and Development, Heldemarie Wie Czore Zuel. As a result of this discussion the Minister promised to provide assistance to Sri Lanka for the establishment of a Technical Education Institute in which the Sri Lankan President evinced special interest. The German Economic Co-operation Minister expressed his pleasure and admiration regarding the on-going peace process in Sri Lanka and the cordial economic ties between the two countries. The Sri Lankan President also met the President of Baveria Dr. Edmund Stoiber in Munich yesterday.
