President arrives in Brussels

Following a successful four-day official visit to Germany, President Kumaratunga arrived in Brussels for discussions with the European Commission yesterday.

This is the first visit to the European Commission by a Sri Lankan Head of State  since relations between the Commission and Sri Lanka were established in 1973.

On her arrival the President of the European Commission, R. Prodi, welcomed President Kumaratunga. Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar also accompanied President Kumaratunga.
