European leaders have pledged to combat terrorism. The pledges came during President Kumaratunga’s current tour of Europe. During bilateral talks with European leaders, the President brought to their notice Sri Lanka’s experience with the brutality of terrorism. The operation of terrorist organisations through their front offices has also been discussed. German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has pledged his country’s support to combat the menace of international terrorism. President of the European Commission Romano Prodi also emphasised the urgent need to eradicate terrorism, during his discussions with the President Kumaratunga. Dutch leaders too, have reiterated their commitment towards combating terrorism.
