UNESCO assistance to set up web portal for South Asian co-operation

UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador Madanjeet Singh has set up an advisory board in Sri Lanka to promote cooperation amongst the people of South Asia. Foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar will head Sri Lanka’s board.

Ambassador Singh who has dedicated himself to promoting Cooperation in South Asia has set up similar advisory boards in all South Asian nations.

Ambassador Madanjeet Singh has pledged Rs. 50 million (US$ 5.8m) to finance projects to promote SAARC. One of them is a website portal for both interactive information and to promote in-depth knowledge of the region.

Promoting understanding and friendship among the children of South Asia is another aim of the Advisory Board.
