Sri Lankan Airlines has successfully carried out the first series of ‘C Checks’ on its new fleet of airbus A330 aircraft. ‘C Check’ is a routine maintenance check, developed by the aircraft manufacturer to ensure continued airworthiness carried out on aircraft after every 15 months in operation. ‘C Checks’ are carried out by the Engineering and Maintenance Division of Sri Lankan Airlines, which has over 500 in-house trained, internationally qualified personnel, most of them having more than 10 years experience in the maintenance of commercial passenger aircraft. It was in 1993 that Sri Lankan Airlines began the operation and maintenance of its Airbus A320 fleet. The programme was further strengthened when A340 maintenance was initiated in 1994. Since 1999, Sri Lankan Airlines operate and maintain A330 aircraft as well. The airline is now planning to offer these services to other airlines as well.
