Nearly 200 members of the 'Parents for Peace' staged a demonstration in Colombo yesterday asking for the release of the eleven remaining crew members of the passenger ships MV. Mission, Irish Mona and Princess Cruise, captured by the LTTE. Parents and relatives of the detainees participated in the peaceful demonstration outside Colombo's main railway station. The captain of the MV. Mission who was released after being in captivity for over a year said, "I request the LTTE to release those eleven crew members before the Sinhala-Tamil new year." "Since these people are not soldiers or officials but civilians we hope the LTTE will release them on humanitarian grounds," he said. His vessel was captured by the LTTE in July 1997.
