The Sri Lankan government will announce the dates for the commencement of negotiations with the LTTE before the end of this month, Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar said on Tuesday. “Before the month is out, the Government will be able to make a definite statement with precise facts regarding the starting of negotiations with details including dates,” he told Parliament. Minister Kadirgamar said he was optimistic that the present process with the help of the Norwegian government would result in the commencement of talks. “We have been daily taking this process forward,” the Minister said. “I wish to state that the Government is totally committed to usher in a process that would lead to a just and durable settlement,” Kadirgamar further added. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe is due to visit Norway next week at the invitation of the Norwegian government.
