Sri Lankans to get more jobs in Korea in 2002
[05 Apr 2001]

At least 10,000 Sri Lankans will have the opportunity to be employed in Korea during the second half of the year 2002.

Due to the development in the Korean economy the building of industrial parks and estates have increased the opportunities for these expatriate workers. The Korean Ambassador said this at a meeting with the Labor Minister Alavi Moulana.

He said that as a result, job opportunities will be available in Korean industrial complexes for welders, electricians and those who have experience in the field of electronics.  The Ambassador further said that the present Lankan workers are well regarded by the Korean government as Sri Lankans have never been reported to have been involved in illegal activities or industrial disputes.

The Minister said that preparations were already underway to train youngsters to match the jobs that will be available next year.
