Europeans walk in Sri Lankan shoes

Sri Lankan footwear has had a good response at the ‘Dusseldorf Shoe Fair’. The five local companies who participated in the 91^st GSD International Autumn Shoe Fair in Germany bagged many orders.

A Deputy Director of the Export Development Board, Ms. Chithrangani Mubharak, said, “Sri Lanka is producing a wide range of ladies and gents shoes and for people of all walks of life” She further said that there is a growing demand in the west for our canvas and leather shoes.

Footwear made in Sri Lanka is sold under prestigious fashion labels such as ESPRIT, BENETTON, PIERRE-CARDIN, PALLADIUM, and AEROSLES.

Sri Lanka exports its quality footwear to the US, UK, Italy, Canada, France and Germany. The Export Development Board is working on new markets such as Japan and Middle East for Sri Lankan shoes.
