Professional Marketers to focus on national issues
[10 Apr 2001]

President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing [SLIM] Nalin Attygalle said, "SLIM should get more involved in national issues in order to create more value, and towards that the time has come for senior marketing professionals to rally round the institute."

SLIM, the premier grouping for marketing professionals in the country, is dedicated to promote, maintain and uphold professional and ethical principles, standards in the practice of marketing and marketing education in Sri Lanka.

The new Chief of SLIM plans to form a National Issues Round Table [NIRT] consisting of marketing professionals to identify needs, focusing on study related issues and recommend national level strategies that need to be implemented.

SLIM plans to publish an agenda inviting research papers from the membership on areas that relate to marketing in Sri Lanka.

Attygalle added that, "While focusing on macro issues SLIM will continue to serve its key stakeholders."  For this purpose, training programmes will be conducted and a distance education programme in Sinhala geared towards awarding a preliminary certificate in marketing will be launched shortly.
