Sri Lankans to trade on the Net

Increasing number of Sri Lankans are banking, paying bills and buying with a click of a button. A local company Singer Sri Lanka has begun web-marketing its range of products. The Company promises free home delivery for items ordered via the net. Singer is Sri Lanka's market leader in the distribution of consumer durables.

By the end of last year around 40,000 Sri Lankans had access to the net via their home and office PCs. 

Sri Lanka's Export Development Board [EDB] is to set up a common gateway to monitor business to business transactions. All major banks represented in Sri Lanka are also working on promoting E-Trade.
