LTTE demands a shift in Norway’s role

LTTE demands the role of Norway to be changed from a facilitator to a direct third party participant at the proposed peace negotiations.

“In our perspective the third party involvement (of Norway) is crucial even after the commencement of the negotiations”, the LTTE theoretician Anton Balasingham said.

Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar was quoted in India’s Frontline magazine early this week saying both parties had accepted Norway as a facilitator and not as a mediator.
