The Tamil Tiger rebels have been named as one of the terrorist groups that are considering attacking marine targets posing an increasing international threat to the world oil tanker trade, a Reuter report said. The International news agency quoted the speech of a former mercenary Colonel to the international tanker owners organisation, Intertanko, as saying the Tigers had been identified as actively considering attacks on marine targets. "We believe Abu Sayyaf and the Tamil Tigers are actively considering attacking marine targets," he said. Abu Sayyaf is a Muslim separatist rebel group based in the southern Philippines.
