Sri Lanka’s main opposition party, the United National Party today said it would amend its constitution and reorganise the party. This was stated in a Press Release from the party’s headquarters today. Party leader Wickramasinghe will take action to submit a report within the next two weeks after consulting the views of various groups within the party who have in recent times been clamouring for a re-organisation of the party. “The political activities of the party will be effected through a committee on political affairs consisting of the Leader, Deputy Leader and the Chairman of the party,” the release added.
