A Royal Norwegian Embassy spokesman in Colombo, Thomas Stangeland, said that Norwegian peace envoy Erik Solheim had arrived in the Island. He said that Solheim was scheduled to meet President Chandrika Kumaratunga later Monday. “The peace moves are a definite option however the current military situation is a setback,” Solheim was heard, saying on the BBC world service today. According to the Embassy spokesman, Solheim is due to leave Colombo tomorrow.
