President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga attacked the private media as well as the UNP and its leader Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe for imbalance coverage of the presidential election campaign. In the long two hour interview on National Television Rupavahini last night, the President stated that she would take legal action against the private media for carrying insulting stories against her during the presidential election campaign. SLBC Chief Janadasa Peiris and senior journalist Lucien Rajakarunanayake conducted this discussion. President Kumaratunga also accused the UNP for their secret pact with the LTTE with the cooperation of a section of the Army and went on to state that information regarding this conspiracy has already obtained. She also emphasised on the free and fair manner, the presidential election was conducted and stated that even the foreign observers support this fact despite various criticism from the opposition.
     She also expressed her political principal sand policies and made special emphasis on humanity, freedom of the individual responsibilities, loyalty, bravery and honesty.
