Sri Lanka among the countries banned by Britain to buy arms from export credits [13, Jan 2000] Sri Lanka is also among the
22 of the world's poorest countries barred from buying arm s with credit
guarantees paid by the UK's taxpayers, the British government announced
this week. But the Sri Lankan defence officials said that this ban on Sri
Lankan armed forces would not have any significant impact as the country
does not depend heavily on UK manufactured armaments.
