CID questions private TV channel Director

The CID has questioned Media Director of Sirasa TV and Radio yesterday in connection with the LTTE conspiracy to assassinate the President on the night of December 18, 1999 at Town Hall using a Tiger suicide bomber, CID sources reveals.

     According to the Daily News the reason centered had been the peculiar manner in which the private media had behaved just after President Kumaratunga was injured and was hospitalized from the bomb blast. The CID has questioned a wife of a leading private bank director who was alleged to have funded Rs. 50 million in the form of a loan. The CID had been trying to find out whether the monies were given to the LTTE to employ the suicide bomber to assassinate the President.

     Some top businessmen are on the list for CID questioning. Investigations are still in progress.
