In a search operation yesterday in the Colombo city, 14 LTTE informants were arrested by the police, police sources revealed to The Island. According to police, a large number of LTTE informants had infiltrated Colombo city and its suburbs. Most of them are said to be civilians, who had arrived in Colombo from the North and East. It also said that these informants were providing lodgings to LTTE bomb specialists and suicide bombers. Police have launched a search operation to locate LTTE arms cache believed to be hidden in Colombo City or its suburbs. One female LTTE cadre was also taken into custody by the Police from a house at Aluwihare, Matale, belonging to a well-known monk in Kandy, yesterday's Daily Mirror revealed. The suspect had been trained in an LTTE camp in Batticaloa and was said to be a resident of Maskeliya. The house had been equipped with telephones and fax machines along with LTTE documents including posters, several national identity cards and passports.
