Tamil student killed from terrorist fire

On Thursday around 5.45 pm in Anandapuram, Jaffna troops on bicycle patrol were fired upon by the LTTE pistol group, killing a student who coming after a tuition class. 

In Soranpattu, Jaffna, around 10.50 am troops destroyed two terrorist bunkers with RPG fire. Six terrorists were killed.

  Around 6 pm in Chellamma and Gam Udawa complex atr Vavatkulai, Jaffna, terrorists fired mortars killing two civilians.

Around 7 am in Omanthai, Wanni, troops cleared the areas ahead of defences and recovered four antipersonnel mines. While the troops were on the clearing operation troops fired at a terrorist movement and fired with small arms killing one female cadre.

The 24-year-old student who was critically injured from the terrorist fire was admitted to the Jaffna teaching hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.

On Saturday around 2.45 pm in Iyakachchi troops attacked a group of terrorists with small arms and machine guns killing three terrorists.

In Sankattarawayal, Jaffna troops launched an attack on terrorist bunkers. During the brief fire fight terrorists withdrew with their casualties. Three terrorists were killed while two soldiers suffered minor injuries.

In Wanni around 8.45 pm troops on routine search prior to the departure of Vavuniya-Colombo night mail train recovered a time bomb weighing 2 1/2 kgs in a switch board box and was defused by Army bomb disposal team.

In Unchalkaddi, Trincomalee, troops having observed a group of terrorists fired with small arms killing four terrorists.

  In Vantharamoolai, Batticaloa, and ex-PLOTE member was shot dead by terrorists.

  Yesterday in Thadduvankoddi, Jaffna, troops sniped at and killed one terrorist.

  Out at sea off Kallaru, Trincomalee, Naval craft on patrol detected a suspicious fiber glass dinghy off Modaragam point moving towards Kallaru hugging the land. Two occupants on board abandoned the enemy craft after seeing the Naval craft and swam ashore after anchoring the dinghy. Subsequently, terrorists fired at the Navanl craft with mortars, RPGs and small arms while Naval troops engaged the enemy craft and destroyed completely.
