Canadian
law enforcement authorities are at present gathering evidence from several
murder victims' families in Canada, with a view towards prosecuting an LTTE Tamil
refugee for mass murder, according to reports from Canada. The LTTE activist, a recent appointee to Canadian Tamil Broadcasting Corporation (CTBC) as its new production officer, is a well-known LTTE intelligence leader who originates from Prabhakaran's home town, Valvettithurai in Jaffna.
Kathiravel Selvakumar, alias "Raff," is noted for killing many
innocent Tamil people and for hanging them on lamp-posts in Jaffna. These
were the infamous "lamp-post" executions, which were widely carried out during the early
days of the terrorists' so-called "liberation" struggle. Selvakumar
is working around the clock with CTBC at present. However
he is
expected to be deported back to Sri Lankan the very near future. Canada is
being used by LTTE activists to perform LTTE propaganda in Tamil, through
which they try to reach the Tamil people to provoke them by giving a bad
picture about the Sinhalese in order to generate funding. "The
Tamil diaspora, isolated in western countries, tend to react to these Tamil
language broadcasts, which is their only daily link to Sri Lanka. The LTTE
knows this and manipulates it to their advantage," the report said.
