The mother, sister and two brothers of the alleged LTTE suicide bomber were produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday, along with another suspect, Abdul Kallum, who had assisted to transport portions of the explosives to Colombo. The CID yesterday informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate G.D. Kulatilake that the suspects had helped to bring the 'parcel' bomb to the Town Hall premises. Charges were filed against the four suspects by the State Counsel Sajeewa Samaranayake appearing for the Attorney General, under paragraph 5(1) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for aiding and abetting in the bomb attack. The fatal bomb attack on December 18 killed 25, injuring over 90, including the President and several cabinet ministers. State Counsel also informed the court that the suspects would be used later as witnesses in this case. The
Magistrate ordered the CID to provide the post mortem reports on the
victims of the bomb blast and the metal parts found in the body of the
bomber to the Government Analyst (GA) for further investigation.
