LTTE spy arrested during search operation

Bandaragama police during a search operation arrested a youth, who is alleged to have joined the LTTE intelligence Bureau and gathered information about the movements of the Inspector General of Police, Lucky Kodithuwakku and Army Commander, Lieutenant General Srilal Weerasuriya.

The suspect who was working at a jewellery shop at Bandaragama was handed over to the Anti-Terrorist Division of Mount Lavinia police.

During a statement to the police, the suspect confessed that he was sent by LTTE deputy leader Wickrama in Batticaloa to collect information about the movements of the IGP and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.

Mount Lavinia police is conducting further investigations to find out whether he had been involved in other terrorist activities.
