Normal train services between Colombo and Vavuniya will resume today, after the damage caused by the LTTE claymore mine on Sunday, Railway Department sources said. The damage estimated at Rs.13 million was caused by an LTTE claymore mine, which exploded about 500 metres away from the Vavuniya Railway Station. As a result the train services on this line were disrupted along with the damage caused to the engine and two other compartments of the Colombo-Vavuniya intercity train and the railway track, on Sunday. According to Railway Department sources, immediate steps were taken by the Department to repair the damaged track during the past two days.
