Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh opposing strongly to the division of Sri Lanka told Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, in New Delhi yesterday, that India support for united Sri Lanka. Mr. Wickremasinghe, who is on an official visit to India on the invitation of its government, met Singh for talks in New Delhi yesterday. A UNP statement revealed that Mr. Wickremasinghe have briefed Singh about the UNP proposals to end the North-East crisis in Sri Lanka and also about the discussions between the People's Alliance and the UNP in reaching a consensus on resolving the North East crisis. He has also referred to the Norwegian government's role to bring the LTTE to the negotiating table for talsk with the government. Minister Singh had stressed that a solution to the Sri Lankan conflict must emanate from all parties in Sri Lanka. On the economic front, Mr. Wickremasinghe had also emphasized on the need to prepare a plan for economic co-operation between India and Sri Lanka until 2020. Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India Mangala Munasinghe also participated in the discussion.
