Eleven Tigers killed in battle

 Security Force Headquarters (SFHQ) in Wanni received 42 dead bodies from the ICRC around 6.30 p.m. yesterday at Piramanalankulam. They were received by the staff Security Forces IIQ in Wanni and Division 21, Defence Ministry sources said. 

The process of identification was carried out by the unit representatives who took more than four hours. Thirteen bodies were identified and the SFHQ in Wanni has made arrangements to hand over the identified bodies, today to next of kin. 

The unidentified bodies at present are being further examined by the Army Dental Officers for identification. 

The ICRC has indicated that another 14 bodies believed to be that of Sri Lankan soldiers would also be handed over to the Security Forces today at Vavuniya. 

On 2nd May at Vavuniya, 342 civilians crossed over to uncleared areas while 409 civilians came to Vavuniya. Thirteen NGO vehicles moved to uncleared areas whilst six NGO vehicles came to Vavuniya. Six patients came to Vavuniya from uncleared areas for treatment. Fourteen cured persons and six helpers went back to uncleared areas. 

On 1st May around 8.30 a.m. in Nagar Kovil, troops confronted with a group of terrorists. Six terrorists were killed due to the confrontation. On a subsequent search in the area troops recovered two dead bodies of terrorists along with one T56 weapon, one 40 mm grenade launcher weapon, fifteen 40mm bombs and a small quantity of small arms ammunition. Two soldiers were injured due to the incident. 

On the following day, during daytime in Ariyalai East, troops sniped at and killed three terrorists. 

Today around 6.30 a.m. Kalladi, a terrorist had flung a hand grenade at the residence of an ex-TELO member and four civilians including a child of four years were injured due to the incident.  All injured persons were admitted to the Batticaloa hospital.  The TELO member succumbed to his injuries after admission to hospital.
