The Special Task Force recovered a
bomb weighing around 30 kg, when Tigers attempted to blast the 350-foot
long bridge connecting Kalawanchikudi and Batticaloa, yesterday, military
sources confirm. Following the recovery of the bomb
the STF shot at and killed two Tigers attempting to escape from a nearby
location believed to be involved in the mission. The Security Forces personnel who
searched the area afterwards discovered two hand grenades and pistols,
they said. The bodies of the dead Tigers were
handed over to the LTTE through the International Committee of the Red
Cross (ICRC), yesterday morning.
