The Russian government has given Sri Lanka its full backing in the country's fight against the Tigers, a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday. " Russia understands the actions of the Sri Lankan government aimed at ending the conflict. We are sure that it is impossible to break the terrorist wave that is submerging many countries in the world without joining the efforts of all states against the common evil", the statement said. " The prolonged conflict in Sri Lanka, alongside the extremism and terrorism that accompany it, not only create a real threat for the security and unity of this country, but also help destabilise South Asia ", the Ministry added.
