Two Canadian Ministers had allegedly attended the CN $ 60 per plate dinner to collect funds for the LTTE, organized by the Federation of Associations of Canadian Tamils in Canada, sources said. The Sri Lankan government had expressed its strong concern over the participation of the two, Paul Martin, the Finance Minister and Maria Minna, Minister of International Co-operation, to the Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Ruth France Archibald, who had undertaken to convey the concerns of the Sri Lankan government to the Canadian government. Despite repeated calls by the Sri Lankan Government, the Canadian Government is yet to ban the LTTE. However this year, a Canadian judge ruled out a LTTE supporter, Suresh Manickawasagam in Canada, guilty of collecting funds for the terrorist organization, claiming it was the same responsibility shared between collecting funds and carrying out terrorist activities.
