India will take the lead to support

A international group effort  led by India to address the current situation in Sri Lanka is to take place immediately and diplomatic sources say that this process will initiate with a ceasefire between the security forces and the LTTE.

According to the Hindu newspaper, the effort is backed by countries including USA, Norway, France and UK. It also reported that the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs,  Thomas Pickering, will arrive in Delhi later this month for further discussions.

Meanwhile, Norway will initiate its peace process with the arrival of its delegation led by the  Erik Solheim, principal interlocutor between the Sri Lankan Government and the LTTE in Delhi ,today for talks with the Indian Government. 

Diplomatic sources were not willing to confirm whether Solheim would extend his visit to Colombo.
