Opposition Leader, Ranil Wickremasinghe, yesterday called for parliament to meet weekly due to the current war situation in the country, sources said. At a parliamentary session, yesterday, the Opposition Leader said that Jaffna is under great threat with the Navatkuli Bridge being unusable and fighting in Ariyalai. Hence, instead of fortnightly sessions parliament should meet every week, he said. According to him, little or no news was going to the public because of the media censorship, but the Speaker in reply said that the request could be taken up at the Party Leaders meeting, but sessions should be held with strict confidentiality, because of the sensitivity of the security situation.
