Norway holds talks with government and opposition

A three member Norwegian delegation, yesterday held talks with the government and opposition members regarding the situation that Sri Lanka is currently facing, sources said.

State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Norway, Raymond Johansen had discussions with President Kumaratunga, last evening. Erik Solheim, Special Advisor of the Foreign Ministry on the Sri Lankan conflict and Kiersti Tromsdal, Executive Officer of the Foreign Ministry and the Norwegian Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Jon Westborg, accompanied him.

Earlier in the day, the delegation met with Foreign Minister, Lakshman Kadirgamar and the Leader of the Opposition, Ranil Wickremasinghe, sources confirm.

Meanwhile, Tamil political parties said that they had not been invited for discussions.

However, according to political sources, the delegation covered all aspects connected with the war situation and ways to pursue a political solution.
