LTTE intelligence chief's plot to kill Tamil political leader revealed

An LTTE suspect with a mission to kill the Tamil political party leader of the Eelam People's Democratic Party, Douglas Devananda, was arrested recently.

The suspect, a security guard at the party's Colombo office was arrested on information provided by an LTTE suspect who was arrested recently in Bamabalapitiya.

According to police the suspect was ordered by the LTTE intelligence chief Pottu Amman to kill Mr. Devananda by placing explosives in the kitchen and the dining room.

The suspect from Kilinochchi had been given a house at Hunupitiya and about Rs. 40,000 for the job.
