United States Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Thomas Pickering announced that they would not come into the process of mediation with Sri Lankan Government and Tamil Guerillas. But Mr. Pickering on reaching Colombo would be meeting Norwegian delegation that is attempting to mediate the conflict raging in the island. Deputy State Department Spokesman, Philip Reeker stated, "despite the bomb explosion in outside the Norwegian Embassy, Mr. Pickering will stick to hi schedule to visit Colombo". He appreciated the Norwegian delegation's attitude in helping both sides to arrive at a solution. Mr. Reeker strongly stated " since Sri Lanka has not asked for involvement in the mediation this visit will mere based on meeting their officials".
