More LTTE suspects on Rajagiriya attack to be arrested

The Colombo Detective Bureau (CDB) investigating the Rajagiriya LTTE attack told the Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge G. D. Kulathilake that they have to arrest some suspects in Vavuniya.

The eight suspects who had been remanded earlier in connection with the attack were further remanded till 12th of June.

The CDB earlier took into custody a government officer from Vavuniya district who is alleged to have prepared the forged national identity cards for the LTTE suspects who were killed during the shoot out at Rajagiriya on March 10.

The investigations directed by Colombo DIG, Bodhi Liyanage and conducted by Director CDB, Senior SP Bandula Wickremasinghe revealed that the LTTE had paid a sum of Rs.10, 000 to the government officer to forge the national identity cards.

Following the explosion at Rajagiriya, 28 persons including eight policemen were killed and 74 persons were injured.
