The nine-week old PA- UNP talks will be finalised today with a number of issues being discussed and agreement to be reached between the two parties, sources said. The powers of the Executive President over Regional Councils, the appointment of Judges to the Supreme Court and the Appeal Court, Declaration of Emergency Regulations and the Transitional Powers of the President will be finalised, authoritative sources disclosed, yesterday. The two sides want to end talks tonight, to enable the President to start the dialogue from Monday with the Tamil political parties. Meanwhile sources reveal that the LTTE has already rejected the devolution proposals prompting several Tamil parties including the TULF to support them.
