A demonstration was held by hundreds of JVP activists yesterday opposite the Colombo US Embassy against the G-8 Summit scheduled on Friday and the US military presence in Japan. JVP Propoganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa said that the Summit was aiming at enslaving the third world countries. He called upon the people in all third world countries to stand against what he said was the new imperialistic exploitation. “Through our demonstration we showed our solidarity with the rest of the third world countries in the world,” he said. Yesterday’s demonstration was a part of a series of protests in various parts of the world against the summit and the US military presence in Japan.
