The LTTE terrorists apart from sending more than 10 suicide bombers targeting key figures in the country, has also sought the support of the underworld to create confusion during the forthcoming General Elections, said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Colombo, Mr. Bodhi Liyanage. Police investigations have also revealed that the underworld leader called Nadarajah Wijepalan who was shot dead along with his two girl friends by the Maligawatta Police last week, has given Rs. 700,000 to the LTTE. The gang leader had tried to escape the police check point on July 15. Meanwhile, the Crime Detection Bureau (CDB) has launched a cleaning up campaign of the underworld with the support of the police in several areas.
