Arrested LTTE suicide bomber disclose “major attack plan” on Colombo Port

A hard core Tiger suicide bomber sent to the city to blast the Colombo Port was arrested by the police yesterday when he was hiding inside a lodge in Pettah.

The 26-year-old LTTE suspect identified as Thambimuttu Magil Raza, had dosclosed that sevem other Tiger cardes also being sent for the mission are hiding in several places in Colombo.

A bomb-laden lorry planned to be used in the attack had also infiltrated the city, police said. “They had been waiting for the final signal to carry out the attack”.

Police also recovered five cyanide capsules, a book with secret Tiger signals and a stock of questionable documents from the suspect.

It has been revealed that he is a weapons specialist and could dismantle and assembly any weapon in a very short time.

A resident in Jaffna, he had joined the LTTE in 1995 and had led several attacks against the army, especially against the “Riviresa” military operation, where the LTTE lost Jaffna peninsula.

He also confessed of gathering information about all road blocks at the entrants to the Colombo City . 

He is being detained under tight security.
