A discussion on the PA-UNP Consensus on the new constitution will be held at the BMICH on July 29th and August 5th respectively, sources confirmed. The discussion is in recognition of the importance of the recent developments in the constitution making process and to facilitate debate on the subject. It is organised by the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung (FNSt) Sri Lanka and the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA). The discussion on July 29th will deal with issues of constitutionalism, supremacy of the constitution, fundamental rights, independence of the judiciary, electoral systems and the proposed election and public service commissions. The second part of the discussion will be held on August 5th and will concentrate mainly on devolution.
